INNISHANNON RALLY 2006

The Innishannon Steam Rally was held this year on June 4 and 5 and was again an outstanding success and will make a valuable contribution to the Irish Cancer Society. The weather was absolutely fantastic as the photos show and the turnout fabulous. Their total after this year is expected to top 400,000 euro which is absolutely fantastic.

Every type of vehicle - other than buses - was represented and the following photographs cover the rally fairly thoroughly.

Because there were so many vehicles we have categorised them into the following types:
1. Steam Engines
2. Trucks
3. Cars
4. Tractors
5. Oil engines of all kinds.

This year for a change we have concentraed on the rear of the steam engines to give a different perspective and show the works end.

1. STEAM ENGINES

A delightful miniature steam engine.

1907 Fowler now in the fourth generation with the Murphy Family of Kinsale.

Built in Leeds in 1911, exported to Tasmania and came to Ireland in 2003. Owned by Eamonn and Mary mc Allenan, Slegh, Co. Louth.

2. TRUCKS

The outstanding vehicle in our opinion. A 1961 ERF brough by Ronnie Mc Crea of Ballycklare, Co. Antrim.

.

A rather primitive dash.

The inside complete with air conditioning. Genuine fresh air.

Rear View.

Ford pickup probably about 1952.

A magnificent Dennison 1980 or 1981.

1962 Thames Trader from Martin Mulligan of Killybegs, Co. Wexford.

1975 Bedford TK also from Martin Mulligan.

A fantastic Mack 600 from Paddy Brennan, Castleconnell, Limerick.

A wonderful Model T Ford Van.

Yet another immaculate ERF from Harry Mc Neill of Antrim.

4. TRACTORS

I regret that my knowledge of tractors is not that good and if anyone can help in identifying make, model, year and owner I will be most grateful. I have placed a letter on each photo so you can identify easily.
